Transportation from the Cruise Pier

Instead of the Mexican Riviera we%26#39;re doing the Pac NW Riviera. :-)

So, I have a few questions....

What%26#39;s the easiest way to get to Fort Clatsop and the Salt Works (other than taxi)? Is there a shuttle? Or is there a rental car agency near the docks?

Thanks!

Lisa

There is a Hertz rental car in Astoria, the Salt Works are in Seaside, about 20 minutes away from Astoria. If you don%26#39;t want to rent a car, you could possibly take a bus to Seaside and Fort Clatsop. www.oldoregon.com is a nice website with lots of good info on the area. Have fun! :)

Besides the obvious, one difference between the two is that in the PNW, you won%26#39;t be hassled at every port by a gillion wannabe ';tour guides';. In fact, you won%26#39;t be hassled at all. So, your best bet is probably to rent a car. Hertz and Enterprise are both in town, but I don%26#39;t think either has an office near the docks. Give them a call; they might pick you up, or deliver.

Fort Clatsop is about five miles from the docks, and you%26#39;re referring to the Salt Works there, aren%26#39;t you? How much time do you have in port? If you%26#39;ve got the better part of a day, and a car..... we might convince you that there are better ways to spend your time in the area.
