ashland hotels with shuttle servicve to shakespeare theatres

Hi all, we will be arriving about 5/6pm time in Ashland. We%26#39;re looking for a nice hotel where we can park, check in and then use the hotel%26#39;s shuttle service into downtown to get to the theatre that night. We only have 1 night in Ashland so want to make the most of the short time we have without having to spend any free time trying to find somewhere to park.

Can anyone help with a hotel that provides this shuttle service please? I realise there are several hotels within easy walking distance of the theatres, but sadly they%26#39;re a little out of my budget of say $130 a night.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Have you tried any of the B%26amp;B%26#39;s and guest houses near downtown?

I know the Windmill/Village Suites (windmillinns.com) used to have a shuttle but you might want to give them a call to check. I haven%26#39;t stayed there in a LONG time but it was fairly middle of the road. Nothing special, but clean.

Hi, the Stratford Inn should be in your budget, I believe they have a shuttle, I have seen a van parked in front of the hotel. They have a nice indoor pool there also and a very nice continental breakfast. We stayed here before heading to the Oregon wine country to pick grapes for making Pinot Noir. Have fun! :)

Your original query doesn%26#39;t specify the date you%26#39;ll be arriving in Ashland, but if it%26#39;s after May 21, summer rates kick in and the Stratford Inn will definitely not be in your budget range. See the inn%26#39;s rates:

http://www.stratfordinnashland.com/

Their website%26#39;s list of amenities and services does not mention any shuttle service.

Several years ago, we stayed at the Windmill Inn and made use of it%26#39;s free shuttle bus, but I don%26#39;t know if they still offer such a service. Their website (and name) has undergone a lot of changes, so I don%26#39;t even know if it%26#39;s the same operation.

No matter where you stay in Ashland you really don%26#39;t have far to drive to get to the theaters and you can usually find free street parking nearby if you don%26#39;t wait until the last minute. Right up Pioneer Street, you can usually find a place. We do that and then stroll around Main Street and have dinner or soak up the local scene (and shop!) before our plays.

There also is some pay parking, but we%26#39;ve never had to use it.

I hope this responds a bit more to your posting than Syrahgirl%26#39;s suggestion.

Many thanks for all your help. We%26#39;ll be there on 2nd October. Already checked on the Stratford - $165, so not an option. In fact have looked at all the hotels, motels, B%26amp;B%26#39;s etc - but they%26#39;re rarely suitable for us as we%26#39;re 2 young at heart girls travelling together, so we need a bed each, whether its twins, doubles or queens, it has to be 2 beds and neither one of us would want the pull out! The Windmill/Village Suites is now specific on it%26#39;s rates page - No Shuttle - so am assuming this means neither an airport or theatre one. Whatever, we%26#39;ll cope somehow - have to get theatre tix first, before we do anything else - so thanks for your info about street parking - seems that%26#39;s what we%26#39;ll be doing after all.

You may also wish to look ';up the road'; in Medford, as hotel rates tend to be lower. The Homewood Suites is at the South end of town, should be within your budget, and it%26#39;s a short drive to Ashland.

The Columbia Hotel is great and it is a five minute walk from the Shakespeare Festival. We stayed their last year and it was 120.00 for three of us (with our 12 year old) but a smaller room is less money. It is a fun place.

Are the rooms there ensuite?

Thanks for the heads-up on the Columbia. They don%26#39;t have any availability for the night we want and we can%26#39;t change the date now. However the rooms that would have been suitable were $145 + tax. Their 2 double room is $110 but that%26#39;s a shared bathroom, which we wouldn%26#39;t go for.

So we%26#39;ve have a change of plan and re-arranged our route and we%26#39;re missing Ashland out altogether - after all - we can very easily see one of the Bard%26#39;s performances here in the UK, we live mid way between the Globe Theatre in London and the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford! That kinda puts it into perspective for us on this one I think.

Many thanks to all for trying so hard to help with this one, but sometimes you just have to accept that some things are just not going to happen no matter what you do.

Too bad about missing Ashland, I hope you can include it in your plans next time you visit! :)
