Coast and Wine Country 4-5 days - Anniversary

My wife and I are looking to celebrate our anniversary and we%26#39;re taking 5 days to explore the Oregon Wine Country and coast. We%26#39;re looking for recommendations for a couple spots on the coast that have some local activities and are scenic/romantic. Any thoughts/ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Which area of the coast are you interested in? Budget?

When you mention anniversary and romantic, the first places that came to mind were Stephanie Inn in Cannon Beach, and Whale Cove Inn, just south of Depoe Bay: http://www.stephanie-inn.com/ http://www.whalecoveinn.net/ . I%26#39;ve stayed in the Stephanie Inn and loved it, but having only been in the lobby of Whale Cove Inn, I think it might be the nicer of the two.

In addition to half-Brit%26#39;s question, are you thinking about staying in/near wine country? The heart of it is within an hour of Portland, but two + from the coast.

%26#39;Nother question - do you prefer having a beach to stroll on or is a rocky cliff okay?

Rocky cliff is fine, no need for a strollin beach.

And we are thinking about wine country, probably looking at staying in McMinnville or Dundee area.

These would be my top picks in wine country: http://www.blackwalnut-inn.com/ and http://www.youngberghill.com/ .

Since you don%26#39;t need the beach, add Overleaf Lodge as another place to consider on the coast: http://www.overleaflodge.com/ . It%26#39;s not in the same league as Stephanie Inn or Whale Cove Inn, but has a better setting than either of them, in my opinion.

Whale Cove Inn is brand-spanking new, and is no doubt very nice, but I agree the Overleaf has a superior setting. Whale Cove is right on busy Hwy 101; Overleaf is set back. Yachats is a tiny town of about 600 people.

Cannon Beach is sooo busy in the summer. There are a couple of places you might like in Arch Cape:

When are you planning on visiting?

We%26#39;ll be visiting the second week in June. THanks for those recommendations, I checked them out online and they look awesome!

I have never stayed at the Black Walnut Inn, nor Youngbird Hill, but I have been to Youngbird many times. I can tell you that the place is really nice and the view is fantastic. I am sure that the Black Walnut Inn is as well....many people here, and on other forums recommend it.

The area is scenic and quiet. The perfect place to relax and enjoy.
