Things to Do For Free in Portland

Want to plan a day where everything is free or cheap. Wondering what is your favorite thing to do in Portland for free?

Things to Do For Free in Portland

Go to the Rose Gardens, window shop at Pioneer Place or the Nob Hill area. Go to Escape From New York for pizza. Walk the waterfront and spend time relaxing at Tom McCall Waterfront park on a blanket with a good book or people watch. Have a cup of clam chowder or an appetizer at the Harborside down by the water. Take the tram ride, lots of fun things to do for cheap! :)

Things to Do For Free in Portland

with car or without?

Here%26#39;s a site I check weekly:

Go hiking in Forest Park. Free and beautiful!

Great site oregone!!

You don%26#39;t say the ages of those included? Does it have to be in Portland, or in close proximity??

The first thing that came to mind was riding Max through Fareless Square!! Though, I don%26#39;t think that is the kind of excitement you had in mind..... LOL!!

I agree with the hike in Forest Park idea, with great views of Portland and beyond, without having to take a hospital tram ..

The Rose Gardens, Washington park with a picnic, the Streetcar takes you all through Portland and it is cheap.

Farmers Markets are free as long as you don%26#39;t buy every goodie that you see ( which is what we used to do ) ... Mio Gelato is cheap.. Powells Bookstore.. you can browse, read, explore for free..

I enjoyed just wandering the neighborhoods and stopping for coffee or a sweet, sitting in the many parks (Couch, North Park Blocks, South Park Blocks, Riverfront) ... have fun... Do a Trip Report :)

With a car.

With a car? My favorite thing to do in Portland with a car is get out of Portland! I love my city but we all need a break every now and then.

If you want to stay in town, why not take a brewery tour? All you gotta do is call ahead and they%26#39;ll usually be happy to show you around. You can usually get a couple of free samples too. If you don%26#39;t like beer, I%26#39;ve found that calling ahead and asking for a tour works with just about every business imaginable. It%26#39;s how I keep my 2-year-old entertained when Mama%26#39;s out on the town with the ladies.

Ride a bike around town. Get a map from Metro (regional government). You can see most of the central city in a day. Lots of great trails, bike boulevards, etc.

Drive up the Gorge to Multnomah Falls.
