Good hotel for walking

What%26#39;s the best hotel that%26#39;s in walking to the dining and parks in Bend? We%26#39;re thinking about a 4th of July visit for two nights, 2 adults and 1 four year old. We%26#39;re interested in casual places and the breweries in town. We%26#39;d like to stay some where relaxing with a nice deck to enjoy. Would any of the hotels in town provide this, or should I look for a rental house?

Phoenix, McMenamins, Mill Inn. The Mill Inn is more of a B%26amp;B, but you get a private bathroom.

The new Oxford Suites (downtown) might finally be open by then. There are many vacation rentals as well, what is your price range?

I%26#39;d like to spend $120 or less, but I could do upto $150. I%26#39;ve seen some nice rental properties, but unless we bring someone else along to split the cost most of them are a bit much once you add in the extra fees.

If we do rent a house, what neighborhood should we try to be in? I%26#39;ve never actually stayed in Bend, we usually go to Sunriver, so I%26#39;m not very oriented with where everythings located.

The Ameritel, in the Old Mill District, is only a couple years old and in a great location. Nearly every ammenity you could ask for is within easy walking distance and the river trail is close by as well. Last I checked, their rates were under $120/nt.

For rental homes I would watch for the keywords Downtown, Drake Park, westside, riverside, Newport, or Galveston.

Ameritel would be a ';healthy'; walk from downtown. It%26#39;s a nice walk during the day, with much of the path running along the river. It%26#39;s a very nice hotel with great views, pool, and adjacent to the Old Mill Shopping mall. However, if you want to be close to the downtown brew pubs (Deschutes, Bend Brewing, JC%26#39;s/10 Barrel, and Silver Moon)... stick with the hotels mentioned earlier (Phoenix, McMen%26#39;s, Oxford).

This place gets a lot of mentions around town, is adjacent to the ';Between the Covers'; bookstore and is a few blocks from downtown. I%26#39;ve never been inside. It%26#39;s well within your price range: 鈥enddutchrentals.com/site/Overview/Property鈥?/a>

The listing organization has several other rental properties, the visitor bureau has a very comprehensive list of rental agencies (visitbend.com) and I also highly recommend vrbo.com
