Takeout/Restaurant on Oregon Coast

We will be traveling from Eugene and then headed up the coast between Florence and Cannon City. We would like to get takeout sandwiches and perhaps have a picnic at Heceta Head Light or is there any food there for sale at the lighthouse? Also as a backup is there a restaurant in case it is raining and not suitable for a picnic? I saw that Pelican Pub was good.

BTW, it is called Cannon Beach. ;-)

There is an amazing place just south of the Newport Bridge called South Beach Fish Market. They sell fresh fish in all sorts of different forms. It is attached to a small convenience store and has big signs that say ';fresh crab'; and maybe ';seafood.'; It is an ultra casual place but wow, the food is good. I eat there often as my mom lives in Newport. It is a hole in the wall but a great hole it is!

The Pelican Brew Pub is also good. A very nice place to eat and have a microbrew. The onion rings are huge and delicious.

Both of these places have an area to sit outside.

Enjoy your trip!

Another vote for the Pelican Brew Pub. Their outdoor seating deck is right on the beach...step off the deck and into the sad. So that is good if it is warm, if not just sit inside:)

In Neskowin the Hawk Creek Cafe is good. They have a couple tables outside, but it isn%26#39;t on the water. Small place, so you may have to wait or else get there early.

Pelican Pub is good, but it%26#39;s a long ways from Haceta Head. And there%26#39;s no food for sale at or near the lighthouse. So, if you%26#39;re there around lunch time, best bet would be some place in Yachats, Waldport, or Newport (though it%26#39;s 45 - 60 minutes up the road from Haceta Head).

Thank you. Some good suggestions! Sorry about the Cannon Beach, not City..I was just a bit confused.

If you%26#39;ll be at Heceta Head around lunchtime, the Pelican Pub is about 2+ hours north of there, on the Three Capes Drive, not Hwy 101.

The only place to get sandwiches south of Heceta Head would be in Florence. Although it%26#39;s not glamorous, there is a Safeway grocery store there that makes up fresh sandwiches in their deli.

For what it is worth, I am another vote for South Beach Fish Market. I absolutely love their Salmon and Chips. Stop there everytime I am in the area visiting family. Now, at the mention of it, I am craving it now!!!

This is too close to Cannon Beach but I will put it here anyway, just so people will know. We loved this place, had take out and also ate there...

bread and ocean, Manzanita.

Thank you everyone for such great advice!! Everyone has been so helpful and I really appreciate it. It gives me ideas so I can use one of them depending on when we are ready to eat. Thank you!!!
