still checking for less expensive downtown accommodation

I have read some reviews on here about Mark Spencer Hotel and Park Lane Inn and Suites. If we do not wish to spend as much on a downtown hotel, but still be within a good area to walk around the city, and stay somewhere clean, safe and comfortable are either of those good options? Still trying to find deals on 3 and 4 star hotels downtown, but seeking out other possibilities.

You could bid on Priceline for a downtown Portland hotel, others have had luck with this. :)

Not sure what rate you are looking for but you might try giving hotels a call for best rates. Ask for the manager. Vintage Plaza is offering some good rates and The Inn at Northrup Station typically is priced right. Good luck!

Check the Travel Portland website for specials. I would stay near downtown and take MAX or a taxi in to walk around and then taxi or MAX/bus back to my hotel. No need to stay right in downtown. Personally, I think the best parts of Portland are on the east side of the Willamette. Check out the Kennedy School or a B%26amp;B in NE or SE.

I%26#39;ve not stayed in either the Park Lake or Mark Spencer, but both should meet your clean, safe, and comfortable criteria. Mark Spencer has the better location of the two, just a few blocks away from the center of town in one direction, and a few blocks from the Pearl District in another. It%26#39;s an easy walk from Park Lane to NW 21st %26amp; 23rd Streets, but about 3/4 of a mile to the downtown core.

I know the Park Lane includes parking, not sure about the Mark Spencer. Since that can be $30/day, might be worth checking.

We always use Hotwire to book our rooms in Downtown Portland.Any 3.5 - 4 Star hotel has been just fine. We usually end up at either the Westin, Marriott, or Hilton. In fact, we just got home today from Portland. We were at the Hilton, and paid $59.00 per night. Good Luck on your search!

The Park Lane and Suites seems to be the newer/nice hotel as far as interiors etc but the Mark Spencer is Right on the streetcar line on 11th and is steps from the Pearl District .. The Inn at Northrup Station is also not bad at all, look into that, it is also on the Streetcar line.. and they have parking.

';Downtown'; hotels pretty much includes all the hotels on the Westside.. they are in a cluster in downtown with a few scattered around the edges but all are accessible and it is easy to get around .. Portland is not a large spread out city ... the downtown part... so you will be able to sightsee and get around pretty much wherever you stay ..

Did I post the lists of hotels for you on the other thread?

Look at those.. there are websites.. tripadvisor.com/GoListDetail-i892-Sleeping_i鈥?/a>

We just got the Marriott Downtown Waterfront on Priceline for $65. a night. I almost always use Priceline and its well worth it, esp. if you know which areas you want to be in. Can%26#39;t go wrong location wise,with selecting ';Downtown.';
