fastest way from Portland to the coast

I%26#39;m taking the coast down from Seattle to LA. I wanted to cruise quickly from Seattle to Portland -.

I see there are many different roads from Portland over to the coast. Which is the quickest way to get there??

fastest way from Portland to the coast

My guesses would be:

Hwy 26 from downtown Portland to the Cannon Beach/Seaside split...

Or Hwy 22, from south Salem, to Lincoln City.

Go through mcMinnville to Lincoln City OR-18

... and in this corner we have... :)

The voice of reason, sometimes. LOL!

ladythump, do you wish to drive the entire Oregon coast? Or just see a bit of it whilst on your way to LA? How much time have you alloted for your Oregon coast portion of your drive?

We always enjoyed the drive from downtown on 26 to 101 (Cannon Beach) .. then south on 101.

The drive takes you out of town, through countryside with the sight of the mountains in the distance, so beautiful, then up and through forests that are also very beautiful.

Our drives always took us about 90 minutes from apt in the Pearl to Cannon Beach. With one ';pit stop'; on the way .. there is/was a farm with flowers, produce and fresh baked goods that I liked stopping at , just before the climb into the forests.

I';d like to go from Portland down to Grants Pass in a day. Is that possible??

Sorry to say my response was a bit short, but so was your query. what do you really want? There is no quick driving way to LA other than I-5. well flying is quick. . Really wonder what you want to do on coast, coast is not ';quick';

Portland to Grants Pass? Yes, it%26#39;s about a 5-6 hours drive.

However, Grants Pass is not on the coast ;-)

If you wanted to drive on the coast for part of way, you%26#39;d have to add several hours to that time estimate.

You don%26#39;t ay when you have scheduled this trip. If in summer, going is slower. If you drive it in one day, you won%26#39;t have much time to do more than, literally, a drive by. That fast trip warrants, IMO, at least two nights on the coast.

The answer to your question, [what is the] fastest way from Portland to the coast, would be either hwy 26 to Cannon Beach, or hwy 6 to Tillamook. But, as others have said, fastest may not be the most advisable in your case.

I sometimes wonder if your estimates of drive times are based on driving an RV, half-Brit. Either that, or I%26#39;ve got a lead foot. ;-) It%26#39;s only about 245 miles from Portland to Grants Pass, and I don%26#39;t know that it%26#39;s ever taken me more than 4 hours to get there.
