Chasing Waterfalls in the Gorge
I hope to chase many waterfalls this weekend!! Thanks for sharing Scarlett.
Chasing Waterfalls in the Gorge
Have enjoyed all of his travel articles in the NYT. Almost as enjoyable are the comments made by readers. Such a balance to be struck wanting to share your beautiful state, yet wanting to protect and maintain life as you have it.
Nice article:) I love the gorge and hiking when you get past the first mile or so of any trail (further from the masses) is even better.
Mahjerle--Have fun! We will be at the wineries. Working at one tomorrow all day. I am expecting more trout on Sunday, lol:) Otherwise we are staying home and relaxing...been running around too much.
I am happy that we took a gazillion photos on all our trips to the Gorge and hiking around the falls.
On a Hot day like we are having today, I enjoy looking at those photos of misty cool green woods with that water in the back .. the moss growing on everything !
As one Big O columnist said lately please quit sayig nice stuff about us New york times.
It is funny how often NYT has Oreg stuff.
The New York Times was directly responsible for our moving to Portland ! lol
We always take visitors on the Gorge drive - I never get tired of it myself. We are hoping the Gorge Hotel reopens again before too long.

LOL Looks as if it has been in the 70%26#39;s in BA....60%26#39;s later this week...you should feel closer to Oregon now than ever in BA. Doesn%26#39;t seem to be hot. Hot was when I was there on a 93 degree day, in March, when my luggage was delayed by a day, and I was in a suede shirt in the sun. Now THAT was hot. LOL!
Today was actually pleasant in Portland, even though I do not like sun and summer. The temperatures were moderate (in the 70%26#39;s) and the sun was out, for those who like that...I don%26#39;t (unless I am in Hawaii) but that%26#39;s okay. ;-)
It was in the high 70s with 88% humidity so it was not anything like Portland. At 11:30 pm, it is in the 70s still... we are expecting thunderstorms and drops back into the 50s and 60s which is normal for this time of year.
The temps were in the 90s and 100s this summer.. unusual, they say.
That day you were here in BA, was probably a typical summer day...
So as I said, I miss the cool green forests in Oregon.
Just in case anyone is interested, I have returned from a successful day of chasing waterfalls!! Went to Latourell and Wahkeena. Had the little ones (1, 2 and 8) with us so we didn%26#39;t get far off the beaten path!!
You could not have asked for a more beautiful day in the gorge. The complete lack of wind, even at Crown Point, was amazing. I can%26#39;t remember a time being up there and not being blown around at least a little bit.
Okay, that is my trip report. Hope you enjoyed!!
