hi everyone. I am looking for a way to not fly to Vegas from BC but the only way we have driven takes us through Grants Pass. What kind of weather is the `norm` in early November? If you think it might be too snowy can you recommend a different way?
Grants Pass and south driving in November.
Grants Pass could be least of your concerns.
Where from GP? Siskiyou Pass, Mt Shasta, road to Susanville, can be problems. though may not be, snow can fly in Nove, but also can melt soon.
101 coast route can be option if weather reports look bad.
Grants Pass and south driving in November.
We drive to Phoenix and back every year, in late October/early November and return just before Thanksgiving (4th Thursday in November). We have encountered snow only once in the last 10 years, and that was just a short flurry at Siskiyou Pass on the return trip in late Nov.
We have made a stopover in Las Vegas several times. Each time traveling a different route to get there.
Last year we drove south on I-5 to Eugene, then took Hwy 58 across Willamette Pass to Hwy 97 and Klamath Falls. From there we followed Hwys 139/395 to Reno, then Hwy 95 to Las Vegas. Weather was sunny and dry the entire trip.
Another time we drove south to Sacramento and took Hwy 50 east to 395 then south to Death Valley and across Death Valley to Las Vegas. That year there was snow at South Lake Tahoe and at Mammoth Lakes, but the roads were clear.
If we stop in Las Vegas on the return trip, we usually head west on 15/58 to Bakersfield and back home on I-5.
