Hi All:
My wife and I will be in Oregon for a week in Late June. We%26#39;ve never been in OR before, so a little advice would be great. We%26#39;re going to base ourselves in Portland, but need to visit friends in Myrtle Creek for a day or two. What would you recommend as routes to and from that would lets us see a bit more of the State, interesting sites, historical spots, etc?
Lake Forest Bob
Myrtle Creek
You could go from Portland to the coast, then south, and then take Hwy 42 east to Myrtle Creek. When you leave there, take I-5 north, then Hwy 138 east adn see Crater Lake, then head north on Hwy 97 through Bend up to the Columbia River Gorge and back to Portland.
There are a couple of variations of this route, but you would see quite a bit of Oregon. It would take your whole week including two days with your friends. If you want to spend more time in Portland, you%26#39;d have to cut out some of your scenic travelling.
