will be driving from seattle back to california at the beginning of august and would like to stay one night at a down on the north or central coast and a second night on the southern end

thanks
coastal towns
Seaside is nice for strolling, they have a cool promenade there with beautiful views of the ocean and Tillamook Head. Go to Yummy Wine Bar for some great food. We also like Bigfoot Pub %26amp; Grub and Taste of Tuscany for Italian food. www.seasideor.com is a nice website for this area.
For places to stay check out the Tides by the Sea or the Rivertide Suites. There are many places to stay along the prom also where you will have beach access right out of your hotel. Have fun at the coast! :)
coastal towns
i have read that seaside is a bit touristy and was thinking of yachats for the northern stay...maybe???
Just a reminder that Yachats is not on the Northern part of the coast. And I cannot give any info on it....I%26#39;ve never been there. I drove through it once, when I was in grade school (well, okay, my mother was actually doing the driving) on the way to Bandon. ;-)
Oh heck, I am absolutely no help on this, other than the ';it%26#39;s not on the northern coast thang. LOL!
Yahats is central coast. Yachats is a great little town, but I think for first timer Newport may be better, more to do there. More to stroll in Newport. you can stroll Yachats in 5 mins.
Cannon Beach is strollable but on north coast. though personally I prefer Seaside. though my favorite on north coast is Manzanita.
Wineaux, you must be kidding. just because there in no winery in Yachats does not mean you do not know it.
i decided i think on newport for the first night...now looking for a southern town for the next night or may go all the way down to trinidad in california
Okay, Newport it is then. Walk along the bayfront, and also you might like Nye Beach area. Visit Yaquina Head to tour the lighthouse.
From Newport to Trinidad is about 6-7 hours drive not counting stops. If you don%26#39;t want to drive that far in one day, (since you probably want to stop and visit/see things), I%26#39;d suggest Bandon. Nice small town, compact old town center, quite pretty.
Wineaux, you gotta get out more, LOL!
The OR coast is so magnificent, I%26#39;d also recommend stopping in Bandon, then you won%26#39;t be rushed and can take time to explore the viewpoints... as, for example, Cape Perpetua, Devil%26#39;s Churn, et al.
I would try to go to the Oregon Coast Aquarium if you stay in Newport, schedule a couple of hours for this. Have fun! :)
I agree I would not go all the way to Trinidad. We just made a trip down 101. I checked prices in Trinidad and chose to stay in Crescent City. Also did not want to hurry past Redwoods. The night before we were near Reedsport
