We%26#39;re looking for lodging near JD Fossil Beds. We%26#39;d like to stay two nights, see the museum etc. and find a place to dig for fossils, find thundereggs, maybe a petrified forest.
We%26#39;re looking at the Painted Hills Vacation Rentals in Mitchell, but don%26#39;t know the area at all. Any recommendations? Would you stay in Mitchell, or would Fossil be better? We%26#39;re driving from Portland, thinking about August.
Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
Lodging near John Day Fossil BedsI%26#39;d stay in Fossil, as there is much more to do. Mitchell%26#39;s great and all, Fossil is about 4-5 times bigger. And no trip to Fossil is complete without shopping at the Mercantile downtown. It%26#39;s like walking back in time 100 years. But with artisan goat cheese.
Lodging near John Day Fossil BedsHmm, have you considered John Day? some of main features are near Dayville, and hdqtrs in John Day
John Day a city compered to Fossil, though a night in Fossil would be great, Mitchell less so,
