Hotel and breakfast

We are starting our Oregon vacation in Portland for our first night%26#39;s stay. Planning on getting up and doing Pittock Mansion, Rose Garden and waterfalls. Any recommendations on a nice, but lower priced hotel as well as somewhere for an awesome breakfast? Thanks!!

What is your budget for a hotel?

For breakfast, Mother%26#39;s is always good. I also really like Everett Street Bistro, Red Star Tavern (in the Hotel Monaco, great hotel too, btw), and not quite up to these others, but still a place I really like breakfast is Lorn and Dotties.

Thank you, will tty one of those! We would like to spend $100 or less since we are getting in late and will just basically be sleeping there. Staying in Cannon Beach after that which is costing a lot more!

For that price, I would try priceline. I have not used it myself, but several posters here have and have gotten very nice hotels for way under $100. Yes, Cannon Beach is much more.

Bijou Cafe is very good for breakfast, I have a review of our time there last summer. Check out the Inn @ Northrup Station in the Nob Hill area for a place to stay. Enjoy your trip! :)

True, the Inn at Northrup gets good reviews. But Syrah has not stayed there, so realize that she cannot vouch for the hotel other than location. The rates are much higher than $100 per night also. But if you can get a special, or something like priceline, you never know.

Be wary of hotel parking charges in Portland - they may be as much as $30/night. I learned that on this forum since we never stay downtown ;-)

';Waterfalls'; are east of the city, if you mean Multnomah, etc?

A different thought:

A good airport hotel is the Clarion. Free, full complete breakfast buffet right there in the hotel, large rooms with fridge and micro, nice view of a small lake. Under $100. You could leave from there and see the waterfalls first, then head back into downtown.

Some frugal minded friends of mine who visit Portland frequently swear by ';PIGH';, the Portland International Guest House in the NW neighborhood. They do say to steer clear of the smallest cheapest room however (really, really tiny).

If you can up your budget to about $150 for a night%26#39;s stay you might be able to get a deal at The Embassy Suites (full breakfast included) or the Silver Cloud (contintental breakfast included. Both are nice places.I would suggest calling the hotel for the best price. Welcome to Portland!
