Family Lodging in Canon Beach

Hi-

My husband 2 y/o son and I are planning three days in Canon Beach right after Memorial Day weekend. We%26#39;d like to stay at Oceanfront property. We are looking for the best place for us. We don%26#39;t want to go too high end -- since it%26#39;s not a couples vacation but we really like good service and would like to stay around $150 per night.

Any suggestions?

I can%26#39;t help much on the lodging angle, but my 2-year-old seemed to enjoy The Lumberyard foodwise. It%26#39;s very kid friendly and such, and within walking distance to a little park and a toy store.

Family Lodging in Canon Beach

I think your $150/night for oceanfront is quite low for Cannon Beach, since this is one of the most expensive towns on the coast. You%26#39;ll not get a top hotel anywhere near that rate, I believe.

Two places do come to mind in your price range, although I have not stayed there:

half-brit is right, finding a good place, oceanfront, will run you more than $150 especially that time of year.

If you can swing it, the Surfsand Resort is an excellent family friendly place. We have stayed there numerous times. It is also the only place on the OR coast with cabana service. Also complimentary toys, kites, beach chairs/umbrellas...so you don%26#39;t need to go purchase any of that stuff.

Hello and welcome, if you don%26#39;t mind not being on oceanfront, there is Ecola Creek Lodge that is in your budget, just a short walk to the town and beach from this property. Your little one will enjoy seeing all of the bunnies here. If you%26#39;re totally set on oceanfront and your budget is right at $150/night you may want to consider nearby Seaside where the lodging is less expensive. There are many oceanfront properties right on the prom, just steps to the ocean. Ebb-Tide, Hi-Tide, Best Western Oceanview, the Shilo (at the turnaround) and there is also a Holiday Inn and Comfort Inn just a block from the ocean. The Tides by the Sea is a nice complex with small cottages and condos that have gorgeous oceanviews, we stayed in an upstairs unit which had two bedrooms, a small kitchen and a fireplace in the living room. You can walk right out to the ocean from this property and there is a nice heated outdoor pool here. www.seasideor.com Have fun! :)

Just to give you an idea, Schooner%26#39;s Cove is an example of a middle-of-the-road oceanfront property in Cannon Beach: http://www.schoonerscove.com/ . If you can%26#39;t swing that, there are a number of good options that are a block or two off the beach, and within a short walk of the center of town.

Syrahgirl is right about lodgings in Seaside being less expensive. But there are reasons for that.

Ok thanks for the input. If we were willing to pay more what suggestions do you have for oceanfront at Canon Beach?

As suggested above:

Lands End and Tolovana Inn - oceanfront, close to your $150

Schooner%26#39;s Cove - $240 and up

Surfsand - probably a bit higher than Schooner%26#39;s Cove

Here is the list of lodging in TA%26#39;s review section. Click on the B%26amp;B/Inn tab as well, as often hotels are listed there too:

You can refine your search by price and other factors :-)

I would check out the Ocean Lodge, next to the Stephanie Inn, one of the nicest places on the entire Oregon Coast. :)

LOL syrah:) I do hope you get to stay there at some point since you seem to really like it from the outside. It does look nice. But hopefully you will be able to back up your ';one of the best places'; comment with an actual experience at some point.

My kids have always liked SurfSand Resort. It%26#39;s got an indoor pool and fitness center... things you might want given the unpredictable weather. Also has a great location; easy walk into the center of town. I think it%26#39;s the best choice for a family. Hallmark Resort is a little bit down the beach; have heard/read good things about it, but not stayed there myself.

Can%26#39;t tell from your post, syrahgirl; which place are you recommending, Stephanie Inn or Ocean Lodge? You might not know Stephanie Inn doesn%26#39;t allow children under 12. Or, that both are too far from the town center to easily walk, especially with a 2 y/o. But, I wouldn%26#39;t expect you%26#39;d know that unless you%26#39;d stayed in either.
