July Itinerary - What do you think?
If it was me I would stay the night in Astoria or Seaside, and then Newport. For Day 5,6
You are really pushing it to try and get everything in a 2 day period for the coast.
If you really didn%26#39;t want to see Astoria/Seaside, take 26 right to Cannon Beach from Portland, instead of hwy 30
July Itinerary - What do you think?
The Oregon Country Fair will probably already be over by the time of your trip...and, since it%26#39;s an all-day experience, you probably can%26#39;t fit it in anyway. I thought I%26#39;d throw it in just in case. It%26#39;s the ultimate Oregon event, with lots of great food and entertainment and as close to a throwback to the 60s as the law will permit (they%26#39;ve converted it pretty much to a family event now without the pot vapors wafting in the air, but there still is a bit of toplessness available...usually disguised by intricate body painting).
It%26#39;s a fanstastic logistical feat to put all of this together. All food has to be fresh and prepared onsite, with no motorized vehicles or carts permitted. Dozens and dozens of food booths and about 10 stages, plus an ongoing wacky parade.
They%26#39;re already selling tickets. And, by the way, there%26#39;s no parking...those with tickets take free shuttle buses from Eugene.
left out the link...sorry

Looks very good, if you do decide to stay in Astoria or Seaside, there are much better choices for lodging than in Tillamook. The Cannery Pier Hotel and the Hotel Elliott are both very nice choices, there is also a Holiday Inn Express right on the Columbia River in Astoria. www.oldoregon.com
In Seaside, the lodging will be less expensive than Cannon Beach, there are many nice oceanfront hotels in Seaside, right on the prom. The Shilo Inn, the Inn of the Four Winds, Ebb-Tide, Hi-Tide, Best Western Oceanview are all reasonable places to stay with direct beach access. www.seasideor.com
If you do have to stay in Tillamook, there is also a Shilo Inn there, don%26#39;t miss Cape Lookout State Park in this area. The Air Museum and the Cheese Factory are both fun places to visit, I enjoyed the Latimer Quilt Museum also in Tillamook. Have a wonderful trip! :)
