Portland or Seattle for a fun weekend

Looking to go to either Seattle or Portland first weekend of November. This is the only weekend we can pull a trip off.

We are interested in just checking out your great city, bar hopping, live music scene. We are in our early 40%26#39;s and enjoy a night out on the town. love rock and roll / local bands. bohemian areas. food.

I would pick Portland. It is a bit smaller, but pound for pound a better place to visit (and definitely live). Seattle is a little grey and dirty compared to Portland. Portland feels more like a small town, but it isn%26#39;t.

Fly into PDX, either rent a car and take lightrail to your hotel. You can stay downtown - check out the Portland Deal at that time of year on the Travel Portland website for good deals. There are lots and lots of great restaurants, pubs, bars, music venues within a mile or two of downtown. Portland has a nice public transit system. Go to the Travel Portland website for more info and enjoy your trip to the Rose City.

Okay, I%26#39;ll buck the trend.

Odds are against it in November, and of course it won%26#39;t be warm, but it%26#39;s hard to beat Seattle on a sunny day. And, even if it%26#39;s not sunny, I think you%26#39;ll find more rainy day things to entertain you in Seattle than in Portland. Unless you want to spend the weekend restaurant-hopping. For that, even some Seattleites give Portland the edge.
