Otter Rock, Oregon

We have just booked a timeshare at the Otter Rock Resort, Otter Rock, Oregon for the week of June 12. Does anyone know how far a drive it is from Portland, Oregon and also what is there to do in the area?

Thank you.

Check out Newport, Depoe Bay, Yachats, etc. Absolutely beautiful, the entire coastline. Also, check out ';Things to Do'; tab on the left of the page for each of the cities.

MapQuest says: Total Estimated Time: 2.0 hours 37 minutes

Total Estimated Distance: 106.83 miles

Depends also on the road you take to the coast; I%26#39;d go to Cannon Beach, then head south, to reap the benefits of that drive, unless your time does not permit.

With a whole week, you can see and enjoy a lot of things as noted above.

Who is ';we';? any kids?

We just got back from week in Depoe Bay. Friends joined us for three days and we showed them the condos at Otter Rock.

Some nice tide pooles there if you can catch a low tide.

Newport has a lot to see two lighthouses, aquarium, bay freont, local art museum, Nye beach new in place to visit.

Spend some time in Depoe Bay, might see a whale.

Take a day to drive south to Florence really great coast line there, and on to Reedsport you can see the Sand dunes, ride dune buggies kids love it.

I flew into Portland last year and taking the trains to just outside Portland, then getting in the car and driving took about 2 hours. There is an aviation musuem on the way, which houses the Spruce Goose. In Otter Rock, there are great beaches to go tidepooling in, a great crab shack next to , sorry can%26#39;t remember the exact name, Devils Cave or Devils Peak? It is in Otter Rock though. When we weren%26#39;t doing that we drove about 15 minutes either way to Depoe Bay or Newport. Lots of little shops and musuems there. There is a great restaurant called Tidal Raves in Depot Bay and it looks right out over the ocean.

Its about a 2 hour drive from Portland to Otter Rock. The ocean is great for tidepooling there, lots of great sea creatures. There is a great crab shack at the Punch Bowl in Otter Rock. There are also 2 great towns north and south of Otter Rock, Depot Bay and Newport. Depot Bay has a great restaurant, Tidal Raves, that sits right on the ocean as well. Newport has a (small) aquarium and some musuems. On the drive from Portland to otter Rock you also pass a great aviation musuem, which houses the Spruce Goose.

OK Sorry for the multiple postings....I%26#39;m new at this.

No apologies necessary, and welcome.

One common error that most if not all of us has/have made is replying to older posts. The OP was May, 2008, so they probably have come and gone.

You might want to remind yourselve of, or check spelling of locations and their names, by looking at, say, their websites or MapQuest.

Speaking of spelling, I really know how to spell yourself and yourselves.
