How many days for first visit

I am wondering if there is enough to keep us busy for 5 days (Wed-Sun). Sounds like it best to stay in Portland and go out from there. I saw a wine country hotel called the Black Walnut but not sure it is worth leaving Portland for. I can also arrive on Thurs-Sun.

Depends on what you%26#39;re planning. I think five days would be plenty for Portland and wine country, but there are other sights easily accessible from the city: Columbia River Gorge, Oregon coast, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Hood......

Black Walnut Inn and Youngberg Hill should both tempt you to leave Portland for a night or two.

For someone who is experienced on TA, I am surprised at your first question. You have some answers from your earlier post, to which you apparently did not reply: Posted on: 2:26 pm, May 12, 2009

The many posts on this site ID many things to do. This is, as you might know, a very geographically diverse area and the sightseeing pickings are phenomenal in two days, much less five.

If you check a map, plot the locations listed, above, or of your own choosng, we can help you create a logical route to follow.

In five days, you can see a lot, whether or not you base in Portland.

piatty, our first visit to Portland was 2 weeks and we still had long lists of things that we didn%26#39;t get to do.

There are easily 5 days worth of things to do in town, then you have the day trips, Gorge/Falls, Mt St Helens, Coast, wineries .. you are right.. it is not Napa and a day trip is sufficient.

You will want to just wander in town, enjoy the different neighborhoods, stop often for coffee and enjoy the people watching, shopping, galleries, parks, gardens, shopping, eating , Happy Hours .. Powells books can swallow you for a day easy, so an hour or so will be a nice taste for you, have some Mio Gelato when you leave.. right next door on 11th..

We visited in September, fell in love with Portland , went home, put our house on the market and moved to Portland.

We loved it there.. definitely going to return.
