How long does it take to drive from Yachats to PDX? What would be the fastest route? Thanks for the help!

About 3 hours depending on traffic. You would head north on 101 to Newport and then cut over to I-5 on Hwy 20. When you hit I-5 head north to Portland.

All the way to the airport I would allow 3.5 hours, as it seems that I-205 is *always* congested anymore.

If you are leaving in the early morning, it%26#39;s actually faster to drive north on 101 to Lincoln City, then take Hwys 18/22 to Salem, then go north on I-5 to I-205.

However, Lincoln City gets clogged up with traffic by about 10:00 AM, so that route is just for early in the day.

Hmm, if you can return a rental car elsewhere, there are always those low cost, state fund subsidized flights from Newport. I hear that they are like private planes as the seem to fly empty most of the time. Bummer too, as I would love to be able to fly to more places in Oregon (I am a horrid car traveler....think ';Are we there yet';? And that is usually before leaving my garage).
