We are planning a trip in late August, possibly a vacation rental in Lincoln Beach. Is this a good area for a family with 2 kids? Anyone have any experience dealing with Ocean Shores Vacation Rentals? Are they a well established company? We are a bit nervous never having been to Oregon Coast before so not sure what to expect or what to book.
Thanks
planning a trip to oregon coastThe beach at Lincoln City is nice and the kids will have fun flying kites, finding shells, and tide pooling. I don%26#39;t have any experience with Ocean Shores but I know there are a lot of very nice vacation rentals in and around Lincoln City.
You might also consider Newport. If the weather isn%26#39;t perfect or even if it is, you can visit the fabulous aquarium and the lighthouses. Both Lincoln City and Newport have glass blowers which are fun to visit and maybe even blow your own glass fishing float.

planning a trip to oregon coastSeaside on the north coast is a great place for kids, www.seasideor.com is a nice website, try to book asap for August, one of the busiest months for tourism on the coast. Welcome and Happy Mother%26#39;s Day! :)
I don%26#39;t have any experience with Ocean Shores either, but wanted to second Joan%26#39;s suggestion to consider Newport. Besides being well located for central coast sights and activities - a dune buggy ride would be a must for the kids - the town itself has more character and appeal than Lincoln City, which is generally a 7-mile stretch of shops and strip malls lining hwy 101.
Don%26#39;t you list your Seaside cottage with a rental agency, syrahgirl? Know anything about Ocean Shores?
Now, mistletoe, you *know* you%26#39;re not going to get an answer . . . ;-)
Hi Dee.
I would agree with previous posts that you would probably be happier with your trip if you stay in Newport just because of the variety of things to do with the kids besides play on the beach.
My family members stayed at the Hallmark resort there last summer and were very happy with their accomodations and the location of the facility, for what that is worth. Of the 3 groups staying there, 2 were ';with kids'; and had no complaints.
We usually stay in hotels, so I can%26#39;t help with the rental agency, sorry.
You will be happy with either Lincoln City or Newport. They are also close enough together to stay in one and spend ample time exploring the other, as well as Depot Bay.
